Juan Mata Controversial Goal
ENGLAND
In the second FA Cup semi final of the weekend at Wembley, Chelsea faced Tottenham Hotspur. Wembley hosted the 1966 World Cup Final which involved one of the most controversial decisions of all time; Geoff Hurst's "goal" against West Germany. The question that has always been asked as Hurst's shot hits the bar and comes down is, "Did the ball cross the line?"
Fast forward to the year 2012 when even cricket uses technology to analyze decisions, how is the world game not keeping up? On Sunday evening the match referee, Martin Atkinson, unbelievably awarded Chelsea player Juan Mata a controversial goal that only reinforces the need for this:
