Julio Aparicio, one of Spain's most famous matadors couldn't have expected this when he turned up at work. He was gored in the throat during a bullfight that meant he had to have two life saving operations. The bull, however, was killed by other matadors.
The incident took place during the Festival of Saint Isidro, considered to be the most important event in the bullfighting calendar, at the Plaza de Toros las Ventas bullring.
